Wamenkumham Bima Arya discussed the ongoing development of the formation of the Agglomeration Area Council. The concept is still being formulated, as stated by Bima Arya during an event at Widya Chandra, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (2/4/2025). The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) is currently refining this concept, seeking inputs from various stakeholders and experts to ensure that the council’s authority aligns harmoniously with the central government.
Bima Arya emphasized the urgency of the matter, highlighting the council’s role in addressing environmental issues, disasters, and regional planning. He mentioned the importance of clarity in delineating the council’s powers to avoid conflicts with local governments, stressing the involvement of Jakarta and West Java provinces due to their relevance to the area.
While the consultative process has not yet taken place, Bima Arya targeted the completion of the Agglomeration Area Council formation within the year. The initiative received attention during an open house event hosted by the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani.
Notable attendees at the open house included government officials such as Hasan Nasbi (Head of the Presidential Communication Office), Bambang Soesatyo (senior Golkar politician), Yorrys Raweyai (Vice-Chairman of the Regional Representatives Council), and several ministers, among others.
