Charlotte coffee place The Giddy Goat is increasing — and opened a new location at the Dowd YMCA in South End.
The new spot opened Wednesday, April 6, and its several hours are 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., Monday by way of Saturday.
The original strategy wasn’t even to open a 2nd area, owner Carson Clough explained to CharlotteFive. It was to discover a commissary kitchen for the to start with spot in Charlotte’s Commonwealth neighborhood (near Plaza Midwood), considering that buyers were being tearing by the food items supply so rapidly. But issues unfolded, and the prospect for a new Giddy Goat arose.
If you’ve been to the Dowd YMCA not long ago, you could have even witnessed Clough providing out cost-free espresso, just striving to get people today the feel of the house.
“I grew up actively playing basketball in Charlotte at the Dowd YMCA, and which is the place I would go if I have to do any work,” Clough claimed.
No just one was using the coffee room at the Y, so Clough saw an prospect.
Now, the coffee house at the Dowd YMCA serves as Giddy Goat 2. — including a comprehensive kitchen area, two espresso devices, loads of seating and a rooftop patio. Patrons really do not have to be a Y member to get coffee at the cafe.
“We’re seeking to create a group house,” Clough said.
At first, just espresso is available, such as espresso beverages, drip espresso and nitro cold brew. Later on, pastries will be included to the menu. Eventually, the kitchen area will be renovated to get ready the space for offering a whole meals menu.
Clough said the entire specifics are still currently being worked out, but that patrons can be expecting the communal vibes and collaborative spirit of the original location to transfer to the new spot.
Meanwhile, be expecting to see some updates at the original Giddy Goat locale, way too: Clough described a canine park on the home and new beverages for the bar, like a menu of zero-evidence cocktails.
