Located on the ninth floor of the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, Downtown, the Biergarten rooftop bar officially opened for the season last month, featuring a bar menu heavy with German beers and tropical cocktails, and a German-influenced food menu, including its standout giant soft pretzel, served with beer cheese and dijon. This season, they’re open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 10 p.m.

Lawrenceville’s Poulet Blue offers two options for seasonal outdoor dining: Their cozy rooftop seating area (with skyline views), and its outdoor patio. Patio seating is reservation only, and the rooftop is first-come, first-serve.

Farmer x Baker
Enjoy the breeze from the Allegheny River at Farmer x Baker’s Riverwalk cafe in Allegheny RiverTrail Park. Serving breakfast and lunch out of a repurposed shipping container, Farmer x Baker is open seasonally, with outdoor seating along the water. This spring, it introduced a fully vegan/vegetarian menu at its Aspinwall location (it also has a market location in O’Hara), with menu items like the celery root Reuben sandwich and seasonal vegetable frittatas. The courtyard at Kingfly Spirits is the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny afternoon while imbibing in their fantastic cocktail menu, featuring Kingfly’s own rum, gin and rye in both classic and seasonal concoctions, plus a full line-up of wine, draft beer and hard seltzer options. Sienna Mercato
Il Tetto, Sienna Mercato’s rooftop bar area, has 32 drafts on tap, plus a full menu of cocktails, wine and light bites. With a retractable glass roof, Il Tetto is technically open year-round, but visiting it when it’s open-air during the warmer months is the best time to go. Il Tetto is open for the season on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 to 10 p.m., Thursdays from 4 p.m. to midnight, Fridays from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Boasting one of the best views in the city, Over Eden, the rooftop garden bar in the TRYP Hotel, opened for the season in April. Seasonal cocktails and local beer and cider are on the bar menu, and the abbreviated, Mediterranean-inspired food menu features snackable dishes like seasonal bruschetta and vegan-stuffed peppers. Over Eden is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 4:30 to 11 p.m.

With river views, the outdoor dining area at Shorty’s Pints x Pins along the Allegheny River offers a lovely spot for enjoying beer, wine, or a taco from Shorty’s extensive menu. In addition to plenty of seating, Shorty’s outdoor space also has fire pits for warming up on cooler evenings.

Situated right on Marshall Lake in North Park, OTB Bicycle Cafe has an extensive patio with lovely waterfront views. Their outdoor dining space is open year-round (heaters and fire pits add warmth in the winter), and OTB is open Wednesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of Mr. Stripe or Ms. Star, a pair of bald eagles that frequent the lake, as well as another one simply named the Visitor.
